Where did Christmas go???

Well, the big day has come and gone. How did that happen? It was 3 straight days of eating, drinking and being merry and it was lovely! And it was 3 days in a row of Little P :) He was generous enough to give me TWO framed pictures of himself. The one frame says : Aunt - like mom only cooler! Loved it :) The other is his one of his pics from Sears. Too friggin' cute!
Food lowdown for the holidays: too much consumed! Lots of veggies and dip around though so that was a help. Also lots of homemade perogies and such. Not much of a help! Overall, it could have been worse.
Excercise lowdown: None, nada, zip! Me, myself and I had a couple conversations that were something along the lines of this:
Me: you should go for a run
Myself: but it's snowing/raining/sleeting
Me: you still should TRY and go
I: but I might slip and fall
Me: at least you will be getting excercise while getting back up from said fall!
As you can see Myself and I ganged up on me and there was no running!
OK, enough of that!
It was a great couple of days and today I was back into the swing of things. I drank all my water (what a concept!) and my body is thanking me!
Menu:

L: cup of soup (1), salad (1), cottage cheese (2), 2 bites of potato salad (2), clementines (1)
D: Strange but true - french toast sandwiches (7). I'm on my own tonight and was searching for something easy to eat when I remembered something from my childhood. My mom made french toast and melted a slice of cheese between 2 pieces and then you could put syrup on them. Sounds weird but it's really good!
S: chips and dip (4). Chips are called Kettle Bakes - you can have 32 chips for 3 pts!

Here I am!!

I am here but maybe I shouldn't be. I ran yesterday...that was about the only good thing throughout the day. Had drinks and nachos for dinner!! WAY too many points. Tonight we're having Christmas with my cousin and her man and the downstairs neighbours. Guess what's for dinner??? Appetizers and drinks! I'm going to be aware of my choices. And I notice now that I get full a lot quicker so that helps! My Christmas wrapping is FINALLY finished as is the shopping. I just want to go to Ricki's tomorrow to see if I can find a Christmas eve shirt.
I will check back tomorrow and then probably be MIA until Boxing Day.
And I'm going to try and go running tomorrow AM and the 24th AM sans running partner. That will help!

Surprise, surprise!

Just a quickie to say that the scale decided to let me stay the same this week. No loss...but no gain either. Sometimes you just never know.
We're having J's parents over for dinner tonight. On the menu is vegetarian meatballs in the crockpot with a maple BBQ sauce (5), bread from the breadmaker (4??) (whole grain), roasted cauliflower (0), and spinach and mandarin salad with feta and calorie wise poppyseed dressing (2). Mmmmm, sounds good. And all that is topped off with strawberry shortcake. Cake made with Splenda and light margarine and strawberries sweetened with Splenda (4??).
B: Fruit and fruit dip (3)
L: 1 piece pizza (4), veggies (0), fruit (2), cheeseball and crackers (4)
I will be over points today...ask me if I care!

Whoa....where'd that attitude come from!!!!
Oh yeah, today is my last day of work until the 27th....Welcome to Christmas :)

Gearing up for a gain

I'm honestly not sure how many points I ate today at lunch. And at this point it doesn't really matter. Suffice it to say, I did NOT stick to the veggies, dip and shrimp. There may have been cheese pizza, 3 squares, and cheese, cheese and more cheese in there. (Seriously though, who shows up to a potluck with pizza...and specifically a cheese pizza for ME??? Men...)
So, I will face the scale in the AM and see what it has in store for me. On a funny note, being the obsessive scale hopper that I am, I got on the scale after work and weighed less than I did this morning. WTF??? I guess you just never know what your body will do!

There may have been an incident...

with raspberry macaroon squares. I didn't just eat half either...I ate TWO! And I had not figured any treats into my day. Whoops. I now have like 6 (wait a minute...I have 9!!!) weekly points left and a work Christmas lunch tomorrow. I can tell you right now, I will be over points. However, I know there will be shrimp and veggies and dip so if I can stick mostly to that stuff, I might be alright. If there's raspberry macaroon squares....I'm SCREWED!!!

So not so bad when I write it out...I had thought in my head that I was higher...

How can you NOT adore him???

But on to my Sunday: Very productive day. Got up and dropped stuff off at my cousin's that she still had here. Went for breakfast. Got tree in house and in stand and decorated. Cleaned up mess afterwards. Cleaned bathroom. 2 loads of laundry done. Dinner prepared and dishes cleaned. Whew.
Food -
B: 2 eggs (4), hashbrowns (3), toast (4)
S: WW bread with brushetta topping (2)
D: Boca cheeseburger (2), WW bread (1), Kraft Dinner! (6)
S: Tea and coffee crisp single (2)
Have gotten through the weekend with some flex still intact. This will come in handy as I have a Christmas lunch at work on Wednesday. I want to lose a bit more this week so I'll have LOADS of wiggle room for Christmas/New Years drinks!!

The Good and The Bad...

Good: I got to see little P today!
Bad: It was at L's house and they have a lot of chocolate sitting around!

Good: We got our Christmas tree today!
Bad: We can't put it up today because it is too snowy and would get the house wet!

Good: I dragged the Christmas tree out of the field, which was awesome excercise.
Bad: My back hurts!

Good: We made cabbage rolls today. My vegetarian ones work out to barely a point each!
Bad: After cooking some up for lunch, cookies were put out...I had half of one and some wine.

Good: We had Subway for dinner, even though I wanted Arby's curly fries.
Bad: I also had hot chocolate and popcorn!

I think the good has definitely outweighed the bad today and overall, eating was fairly decent for a Saturday.

Oops!

Why is it that after a great weigh in, I'm not motivated to keep going with what I'm doing to be successful? I put myself in a bad position tonight. I went Christmas shopping at the "OC" right after work. I grabbed a box of Triscuits for the ride...there was about half of them left...I almost ate them all! I figured I'd count that as my dinner but crackers don't seem to stay with you very long. Especially when you have to pick up a few groceries before coming home. I bought a pizza even though I knew I shouldn't. I cooked the pizza, knowing I shouldn't. I ate half the pizza, all the while telling myself NOT to! What is wrong with me?????
So good news is, I only have one more present to buy. Bad news, my food was horrible today!

The Menu Challenge ROCKS!

I can't thank JEN enough for the menu challenge idea! This week, I found my wiggle room...

I LOST 3.2 POUNDS!
It was totally unexpected. The scale wasn't being THAT nice to me until this morning! You just never know!
I'm having a bit of trouble typing as we went running after work and my hands are still a bit frozen!! There isn't too much new except there were treats at work and instead of the brownies and buttertart squares, I chose veggies and dip. That is a first. I didn't even have 1/2 a square! This evening is going to be a different story as I think I could eat my house right now...I'm SO hungry. And I've already eaten dinner!
B: same WW bagel with cream cheese (2) and a smoothie (1)
L: Salad (0), V8 (1), 9 triscuits (3), cottage cheese (2), apple (1)

Today's eating for breakfast and lunch was unchanged. Well, that's a bit of a lie...there was 1/2 of a cookie involved!! I'm counting that as 3. And yes, I broke the cookie in half at work and just ate the one half. A bit of progress!

Whirlwind day!

Worked all day. Then came home and went running...sidewalks are tricky to run on this time of year, but a good workout! Then L brought Little P for an unexpected visit while she went shopping. He ended up being here from 5-8pm. Made dinner while Little P slept. Ate dinner at 8pm. Made J's lunch. Didn't do dishes...oops! And am now sitting down to blog and have a bit of a rest before bed!

L: Salad with FF caesar dressing (1), cottage cheese (2), V8 (1), clementines (1), WW yogurt (1)
S: 1/2 piece olive bread (1)

Just wanted to add that I already have packed my breakfast and lunch and have actually journaled it!! First time the journal has been in use for weeks..maybe months!!

The recipe for the pancakes came from HERE! A lot of great ideas on here AND the nutritional info including FIBRE. She is a WW'er afterall...and a genius!

Weekends are hard!

So yesterday went according to plan. 1 caesar, a cup of soup and a clemintine to add into the mix. I think I pretty much accounted for everything. It's hard when it's appetizers though!
Today...was busy with Little P most of the day. His parents had L's staff work party and were pretty hung today so he didn't leave until 4pm...yep, 24 hours of Preston! He was too cute. And overall, a great baby. Slept from 830pm to 630am! We got to try sweet potato for lunch today for the first time. He loved it!!
Anyway, on to the eating. I had a bit of a slip up today...I ate what I thought was a late breakfast but when you get up at 630, it turns out that 9am felt "late"! So I wasn't really planning on having lunch per se but I did have lunch...it consisted of pretzels and pita chips! Oops.
Otherwise -
B: Whole wheat pancakes - 1pt each, I had 4! I added a few chocolate chips to the batter (2)
L: Pita chips/pretzels (10??)
D: Spicy basa filet (3), perogies (3), spicy beans (1)
S: Tea and 100 cal choc. pretzel bar(2) - frig, enough with the pretzels already!!!
So had I not pigged out on snacks, I would have been fine!

Mission: find wiggle room!

Going well so far - foodwise anyway. No excercise in and there probably won't be for the weekend. Sometimes it's just not in the cards. T minus 3 hours until Little P arrives for his overnight. We also have my parents dog, Rascal for the weekend. Busy place. Cleaning is done, laundry in progress.
Eating today:
Late B: 1 egg (2), WW bagel with becel spray (2), 1 tbsp ketchup (0)
S: 100 cal goldfish pretzels
Saving up for appetizers when L,J & P arrive - serving olive bread with garlic oil/balsamic vinegar dip, pickles, cheese, olives, pita chips and asiago dip and hummus. I'm so excited about it!! Ballpark points: 12
Probably having a caesar or 2.
May need a snack later on in the night.

Sometimes it sucks to be right :(

Gain of 1 lb this week. Yep, it's farewell to the wiggle room. BUT I WILL GET IT BACK!!! I can do it (thanks for the reminder, Jen!!). This has been an unusual 2 weeks with work and with social stuff going on constantly. I'm going to try and be more diligent about posting my menus when I can as that was keeping me from eating the truckloads of pretzels before. And I will get out for runs but it might not be as much as before because it is WINTER and I don't enjoy freezing my ass off!!
I'm actually quite proud. I was frozen out of my car pre and post work on Monday. I was so pissed off about it that I have been walking to work since then. It is ONLY 10 minutes each way but that is 10 minutes more than before.
Anyway, I'm considering this my official kick in the pants!

B: WW bagel with light PB and jam (4)
L: Light progresso soup (0), Melba (2), Veggies and hummus (1), V8 (1)

I'm a little worried

that tomorrow is going to be the death of the wiggle room. It will be a sad, sad day but maybe what I need to get outta this funk. I cannot seem to function when I get home from work. My laundry is almost piled to the ceiling (thankfully I own many, many clothes!), my Christmas cards are sitting here blank...just staring at me, and I can't remember the last time I did a "real" grocery shop AND I've missed 2 runs in a row. And what am I doing right now, you ask? Sitting on the couch, watching Ellen with absolutely no plans to move anytime soon. At least I'm aware of the problem. I guess that's a start?

Not going well...

This week is turning into a write off. Bad attitude, I know! Today was so busy at work that I didn't get to eat my lunch. That = stuffing my face with pretzels when I got home, all the while knowing that I should take the time and make something substantial that would have been less points then a truckload of pretzels. I was also supposed to run after work but since I didn't have lunch, I did have a headache and was just in a crappy mood all around. Therefore, I backed out of my run even though my running partner said that she was going without me!
Someone kick me in the ass....PLEASE!!!!

Busy Bee!

When does the madness end?? Tonight I had to go out for groceries and baking supplies after I had gotten home from work and thrown some laundry in. Then made dinner and then started on my dessert creation for this weekend. It's now in the oven. Have to make lunches for tomorrow, get run stuff ready to go for a run after work and then maybe sit down for a minute after I fold the laundry!!! Geez!
Tomorrow will be running, part 2 of dessert, quick house clean and then L and little P over for the night.
Friday is another staff work thingy.
Saturday is 5K run and then finish dessert creation, then family Christmas.
Sunday is shopping in Newmarket. I'm looking for a new leather jacket and one saleslady invited me to family day at Danier. She said she doesn't have any family so I can come and be her sister. It was SO nice. Another 30% off sale prices!
Monday = start all over again!!!!
OK, enough complaints!
I'm so excited about this dessert. It's Dark Chocolate Gingerbread Trifle. How good does that sound??? Recipe in Food and Drink Magazine that you can get at the liquor store.
Anyway, that's my life for now. Scale is showing me AT goal weight which will be a gain but still OK. We'll see for sure what tomorrow brings :)

Same story...different day!

I'm a bad eater lately. That's all there is to it. No excuses. Just bad choices! I cannot imagine I won't soon pay for it on the scale.
In other news, I did two straight days of shopping and I'm still not done my Christmas shopping!
I'm running a 5K this Saturday so we went running today in a freakin' blizzard just to get our mileage in. Now that's dedication :)
We also have a family Christmas get together this Saturday. I WILL be good. Especially with the help of the 5K run in the morning!

Well a miracle it is!

Down a smidge (-0.4) which is absolutely shocking...but I'll take it! Maintaining was what I was praying for so a little loss is fantabulous!!
No run today due to weather conditions. We'll try again tomorrow! I have a work Christmas thing tomorrow so I need to get some excercise in as rumour has it, they serve my favorites....WINE AND APPETIZERS! Yummy but bad all at once!

Alive...and eating!

This has not been a stellar week eating wise. I did however get back on the excercise bandwagon so I guess that's something. We'll see what tomorrow morning brings. Expecting a gain, praying for a miracle!
So this week has again been busy. Yesterday was another shopping trip to the USA. MUCH less busy on a Tuesday compared to that frickin' insane Saturday! Lesson learned. Coming up on Sunday/Monday...another shopping trip to hopefully get the bulk of the Xmas shopping finished. We'll see how our luck is with that.

What? The weekend is almost over?

Where does the time go??? It seems like every weekend is a busy weekend lately. What's up with that? On Friday, I babysat little P. We had a great time. He's getting SO big! Then yesterday we had a get together for my Dad's birthday. Points went right out the window! We had drinks and then homemade pizza and caesar salad for dinner. Then I made Dad his favorite...birthday pie for dessert (with ice cream, of course!). I did go for a run yesterday morning though...YAY for that.
No big plans for today. I probably need to slip out for groceries but I'm not feeling like it at the moment. We'll see how it goes!

Holding steady

I've decided to officially change my weigh in day to Thursdays. So this morning was good. I'm down a touch (-0.8) to give me more of that wiggle room back. So I'm a happy camper. It was a crappy day at work today and I'm admitting that because of that I'm having nachos. I know, that's not the right thing to do but I'm doing it. And at least I'm aware that I'm doing it.

Why owning a house sucks...

OK, it doesn't suck all the time...just when fall comes around and you have a lot with 3 VERY large trees!! I wonder how much it would cost to cut down said trees??? All in all, it only took 2 of us 2 hours to finish raking the front lawn. But when I say finish, I actually cannot tell as it is dark outside! We'll see in the morning if we're really done and if I can move! 'Cause afterall, it is quite a workout (and that is the only real bonus in all this!!!).

THE best crystal light

I think I'm in love. This is my new favourite crystal light flavour!! I've been a fan of their teas for a while but this new one is awesome!
I don't have much else to report. My cold seems to be FINALLY clearing. Back to work tomorrow. I cleaned and did laundry today. The cleaning included scrubbing the floors, which was long overdue. I just can't get over how clean the house feels! And I've got a yummy cranberry candle burning and am just waiting for Biggest Loser to come on. All in all, a productive day. OH, and I got my voice mostly back. Good times...

Damn Cold...

I cannot seem to shake it. I'm at home sick today. I totally lost my voice yesterday. I don't ever remember having a cold this bad...it sucks!
In other news, I'm enjoying all my treats from the road trip to the states that we went on. Even though it was such a crazy trip...it was worth it!!
Also, Jen has me addicted to nonfat, sugar free lattes and that's all I can think about!!!!

Gain :(

Bad week is OVER. I gained 2.8 lbs. The good news is...I had some wiggle room. The bad news is...I liked my wiggle room and it's gone :( So sad. Oh well. I really deserved to gain this week. It's a good reality check. Just cause I'm at goal doesn't mean I can go and eat whatever I want. Lesson learned and I'm moving on!

Bad weight watcher


Ok, why can I not stay within my freakin' points??? I have a cold right now and my throat feels like razor blades but does that stop me from eating? Of course not. What is my problem this week?

Stress???

That's what I'm attributing this weird weight loss to. I lost 0.8lbs this week??? I did not run except for Sunday. I did not track my food. I ate Halloween candy and fries. Maybe in a few weeks when I'm used to my new job, this weight is going to creep back on! Not that I'm complaining. I just thought I was done. And I'm happy where I am. SO, I'm going to ENJOY the weekend and see where that puts me on Monday.
Weird how hard it was to get here and now the weight is just falling off. I'm confused!

Slacker

Yep, that's me! I've been MIA for a few days now. It feels busy. Gearing up for a wedding in Baltimore this weekend PLUS Halloween last night = no time! We're big on Halloween here at my house so there was lots of decorating and lots of visitors! Little P came over for his first Halloween. THE cutest ghost EVER!
Food tracking this week had been pretty much non-existent. Things I did not track: pizza, perogies, a couple caesars, garlic bread. Wow, that's a bad week. My scale however, has not yet turned on me so we'll see tomorrow. The good thing about the unusual loss last week was that I now have 3 lbs to play with. Which is both good AND bad! We'll see how things go tomorrow and this weekend. I may have to tighten my belt and step it up a bit :)

Mondays suck...

especially when you've been away all weekend and it doesn't feel like you've had any time off. And your feet hurt and you can't walk properly. And work is so busy, you don't have time to eat and then come home and pig out on pita chips - like 8 points worth. Overall, not a good start to the week. Here's hoping that Friday gets here SOON!! OK, rant over.

Whew...what a day!

I ran 10K today and I ran it in less than 1hr and 10 min (which was what I ran last time in Ottawa). I finished in 1hr and 8min and ??sec!! It was very chilly to start and took a bit to feel warmed up. I ran the first 7K with my training partner and then her knee started to give out so she sent me ahead. We have a good understanding that if one of us is not feeling it, then the other should go ahead and do the best they can. So off I went...I had a song in my head and some people ahead of me that I'd been looking at most of the race that I wanted to beat!! I'm funny like that. I run the first bit and try to figure out why I can't catch up to the people in front of me and then if they're still in sight when I pick up the pace, I try to beat them! It's good motivation!
So anyway, race is done and over and now I just have to deal with my sore feet!
Off to the bath tub to soak :)

We shall see in the morning if this is really going to happen. I hope I didn't jinx myself by mentioning it! There were no caesars or pizza tonight. There was, however, poutine - low fat fries (4), low sodium gravy (1), and cheese (3). It was awesome and I was SO full! Hopefully this does not throw off weigh in. It was another long day at work and I just needed "bad" food. So it felt bad, but wasn't really.
Went for the last training run today - just 3K. Hopefully we're ready for Sunday :)

This COULD be the week...

the scale has been my friend since Monday. Not really sure why as my eating on the weekend was far from perfect. The other reason that this could be the week is I'm on my own for Thursday night TV. So, I'm saying it out loud...no caesars or pizza!! We'll see if the sodium was the problem or if my body just doesn't like Friday mornings! I'm hoping for the 1st idea!!
Food today was kinda boring:
B: toast and cheez whiz (2)
L: leftover pasta shells (5), apple (1)
S: cottage cheese (2)
D: tilapia (3), tortellini (3), cauliflower with cheez whiz (1)
S: Melbas and cream cheese (3)
Coffee Crisp Single (2)
Now that I write this down, it's not looking so good on the veggie front! I should go have some cucumbers!!!

I'm supposed to work until 4pm...

and today I arrived home at 7pm. Not impressed. Food was pretty much non-existent today, who has time to eat???? It better slow down soon, or I'm going to have to go on stress leave!
No running today. We're going to try and do a short run tomorrow and on Thursday just to get the legs moving. Then 2 days of rest and then race on Sunday in Niagara! I'm excited to go and do some shopping on the Canadian side and chill at the hotel on Saturday. Then RACE DAY on Sunday at 830am!!! Wow that came fast! Now hopefully I can GO fast!!!!

Stressful day

It's been a long day at work. That's about all that's new. It's an off day from running but I did manage to get J and Cooper to go for a walk! It's better than nothing I suppose. Food today was good. Included in total points today was a caesar. Some days you just need a drink :)

I must have forgotten how to count

This weekend = not so good. After Friday's realization that I am in control (or supposed to be), I haven't really even been paying attention to what's going into my mouth. The only thing that's going to save me this week is running...and the bad thing about that is we are tapering off for the big race next Sunday. So I went for a 5K today and then only a couple 3K's before the big day. SO, these next 5 days have to be hardcore. They just HAVE to be.
Dessert tonight: 1 pt. Apple Crisp:
1 small apple (I used a big one and made two)
1 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp Quaker Oats
2 tsp Splenda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
5-10 sprays Becel butter spray
Peel and core apple and slice or chop. Put in small microwavable bowl with water. Mix oats, splenda and cinnamon. Sprinkle over top. Top with butter spray and microwave 2 or so minutes.
Fairly tasty for 1 point.

I CHOOSE to do this...

I am the one that eats the pizza and drinks the caesar on the night before weigh in. I am the one that expects a miracle the next morning on the scale. I am the one that is disappointed when said miracle does not happen. I am the one that knows what my weight is the day before the pizza. I am the one that realizes I could be at goal if I would JUST SAY NO! What I'm saying, is it's my fault I'm not there yet. I did lose this week - 0.6lbs down. Cannot complain but could do better!!!!

Ouch!

10K hurts! But I can do it...that's the important lesson learned today :) It's amazing how much harder 10 is compared to 8. You wouldn't think there would be that much difference.
Food today:
B: toast and Cheez Whiz (2)
L: cottage cheese (2), 1/2c of each red pepper, cukes, and tomatoes (0), feta cheese and dressing (1), 1c strawberries (1)
S: muffin (1), pretzels and cheese (2), muffin (1) - this all happened after the 10K when I couldn't wait for my dinner to cook for 5 min in the microwave!!
D: Smart Ones Rice and Beans(6), more cukes and peppers with dip (0), pumpkin squares x 2 (2)
S: wine gums x 2 (2), popcorn (3)

Junk food day

I need to stop eating crap today!!!! I've been within points but I don't think very much of what I've eaten today has much nutritional value. Shall we review?

A Buttertart-free Day...so far, anyway!

So today I did what I've never managed to do before, I just said NO to a buttertart! Now have I mentioned before what my favorite dessert is? Yep, buttertarts! So that was my victory of the day :) What was my setback, you ask? At the end of the evening, somehow I got talked into bringing home said buttertarts for J!!! I brought home two. Yes, two. So now, here I sit, knowing that in the kitchen there are two yummy, HOMEMADE buttertarts. Why oh why did I bring those home?
Anyway, I went to a CPR recert tonight at someone's house. The instructor that we know is great. We have drinks and snacks and do CPR! I did have 3 martinis but I had saved points. I stuck to the veggie and dip tray. So that was my "plan" going in and I'm happy to report that it went well!
Tomorrow I have to do another course in the AM but that means I get the morning off work. So YAY!

Dress and Muffins

Weird combo, I know but they are connected...if I eat too many muffins, I'm not going to fit into my dress!!!
Here's the recipe for the chocolate muffins:
3 c. All Bran Cereal
2 1/2 c. water
1 box Betty Crocker Low Fat Brownie Mix
3 tsp. chocolate chips
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. vanilla
Mix all bran and water and let sit 20 min.
Mix in the rest of the ingredients (batter will be quite thick).
Spray muffin tins with Pam.
Bake @ 350 for 16-18 min.
Makes 24 muffins @ 1 point each.
Note: mine did not rise very well...not sure why. They do still taste good though! And they're quite filling!
I haven't had a chance to put on the dress but here is an idea of what it looks like:

Took a cue from Jen...

and went grocery shopping and am now busy in the kitchen. I'm making some pumpkin squares and chocolate muffins (recipe courtesy of L). Also, for dinner I'm making stuffed shells from the Kraft website and then I also found this recipe for later in the week.
At the grocery store, I was initially very upset as there were no honeycrisp apples (yes, I have a problem!). But I actually asked the produce guy and he was nice enough to find some for me!! How exciting!
Food today:
B: went out - had 2 eggs, toast and a few homefries (10)
D: Stuffed shells (7), Salad (1)
S: Muffin (1), Pumpkin square (1), Apple (1), Halloween size wine gums (1)
We'll see, this is all just a guess except for breakfast.
Going to do some crazy planks later.
Will try and take some pictures of my new dress...I might have to try it on though and take the pics. I liked it right away but L didn't really like it when she saw it on the hanger but loved it on!

Shopping Day

Always a challenge to stay OP when you're planning on shopping for the day. Also hard to get in the water. I think I did OK today...here's how it went:

L: Vegetable Pad Thai (10)- could have done better here but I LOVE Thai Express and have to get it when I can!
D: Grilled Mahi Mahi (3), Greek rice (3), Salad (0) - this was when we got back to L's house

Now here's where I went wrong - I felt like Combo's when we were on our way home so we stopped at 2 convenience stores and found some. Well, J found them actually and I had both little packs that he bought me! Each one is 5 pts! Oops, there goes 10 more!
Oh well, count it up and move on!
Shopping day excitement: I bought a new dress! Now I just need shoes :)

Salt-a-licious!!

Dinner tonight: Mexican Pizza, Salad with apples and feta and balsamic salad spritzer and a Corona!! Can I get enough pizza??? The unfortunate answer is NO! Here's some photos of a creation that I adapted from a recipe I found. It was veggie "meat" cooked with taco seasoning and green/yellow peppers and grated carrot. Crust was topped with salsa. Meat mixture went on top and then some low fat cheese and hot peppers. Yum! And of course, a Corona with my mexican meal! Whole meal cost me 14 points which is exactly the number I had left for the day.
Oh yeah, the pictures!!







Pre pizza activity = 5K run - will use half these points for a snack.
Gotta go drink some water :)

Well...it's the right direction!

At least I can say that with confidence! I lost 0.4 lbs this week! Wow, look at me go! I know what the problem is, I guess I'm just not sure what to do to change it. It was edge veggie/caesar night again last night! If I had weighed in on Thursday, I would have been down 1.4 lbs. I think it's the sodium as I always have points for the pizza and caesar.
Anyway, not much time to dwell right now. Will probably be back later :)

Well this is a first!

I'm recommending a fruit! On advice from someone at work, I bought some honeycrisp apples. She has gotten them at the farmer's market before but apparently had never seen them in the grocery store before and yesterday, they were in the grocery store. Crazy, isn't it? So tonight, I saw them as well and decided to try them. I'm a self proclaimed veggie girl and don't really care for apples or any fruit other than berries or grapes.
WELL....let me tell you, these apples are AWESOME! I'm going back to buy more! They are tart when you bite into them and very crisp and then, as you chew, they seem to get sweeter. Go and find them at your grocery store (even if you're not an apple person!).
Food up until dinner was the same as yesterday.
Dinner tonight: Spicy mango basa fish (3), 1/2c Lipton Sidekick tortellini (4), 3/4c summer sweet peas (1). This was possibly the easiest, most processed dinner ever but it hit the spot! The fish come in a microwavable container that apparently steams it in 7 min. in the microwave. I quite enjoyed it.
Snack so far has been a honeycrisp apple! Yum. More snacks to come later!

A food rut???

I don't know what's wrong with me but I just can't seem to think of ANYTHING I want to eat. I'm especially lacking in dinner ideas. I think I will have to do some research tonight and see if I can find some recipes to try. I just feel like everything requires too much effort. Maybe I'm still getting used to my day job. I got home today and had planned to go get groceries but nope...just didn't feel like it. Maybe I'm just blah from too much food/drink on the weekend and a kinda crappy run yesterday. Let's hope I snap out of it soon :)

Whew...


maybe 9K today was not such a good idea. It was extremely humid. I'm not sure that I've ever been so sweaty! OK, that's probably too much information! And on top of all that, my foot is hurting...I think it's time for some new shoes. I love new shoes :)

Thanksgiving Part 1 and 2


Well, what to say? Part 1 of Thanksgiving was on Saturday at my parents house. Food wise...no problem! Drink wise...once I get started, why can't I stop? My plan worked otherwise though. Veggies and dip to snack on in the afternoon. Only a bite of "real" pie. Lots of veggies including turnip! I usually skip the turnip!
Part 2 was yesterday at J's parents. Again, ate lightly in the morning but dinner was a bit trickier. And there was no healthy option for dessert so I had the pie. It was REALLY good! Points wise, I'm really not sure where I'm at. My guess is that my 35 points are long gone. Just on the way out the door to run 9K now, so that will maybe help!

Quick WI post...

another 0.6lbs bites the dust! A loss is a loss, I guess. And considering I had veggie edge pizza and a caesar for good TV night last night, I'll accept it and keep going! I did have the points for the above food. I just feel bad eating it the night before WI. Hmmm, to change WI day or not??? Still thinking about that one.
My Thanksgiving plan this year?
1. eat light prior to dinner
2. have tastes of the "good stuff" but stick to the veggies!
3. only 1 bite each of the apple and pumpkin pie...from J's serving (cause I know he'll have both!!!)
4. plan how many drinks I can afford and STICK to it! (this will be my biggest challenge...that sounds bad but it's true!)

Boring!

So, I don't have too much to report today. I'm working 8-4 everyday, then going running afterwards, then coming home and eating dinner and then trying to find motivation to do something around the house (I'd like to make muffins tonight!). Hmmm, and that's about it! BUT, just wait until my LONG weekend off! Oh yeah and EVERY single weekend off after that. Plus all holidays! Hello, day job!
Run was short today (3.2K).
Food was the same as yesterday except there was a salad in there somewhere and less bread for dinner! Why does fresh bread have to taste so good and why do I have to buy it? But seriously, what else can make chili taste better? YUM!
I have a chocolate fix defrosting right now.

Scary!

OK, new job has begun...just finished day 2 and I have to admit, I'm a little scared! I had people offering to buy me coffee today (which I don't drink...sorry about your luck!) and guess the reason why? I am responsible for the Christmas schedule! Ouch :) Like hello, it's not even Halloween yet! I'm kinda miffed a bit as I volunteered to work last Christmas cause I knew this would be my nephew's first Christmas and didn't want to miss that. It was NOT my turn last year. Now that I'm in my day job...I wouldn't have had to work it this year anyway!!! That's what you get for trying to beat the system!
So other than feeling like getting up 5 days in a row sucks, it's going OK!
Food wise, I'm doing well too!

L: mushroom and brie soup (2), Melba toast (2), Cheese (2), Cukes and vinegar (0)

Weekend FULL of 35 points!

So I did it again! All my weekly points are gone after the weekend. I think that will likely be happening quite a bit now that I have my "day" job. It's so easy to be on track when you have a schedule during the week. Then, weekends are just a blow out with me. And there always seems to be some drinks in there as well, which really drains the points! That's what's good about the plan though. You can allow for that and still lose. YAY!
So the weekend also consisted of getting a new couch! We got a brown leather sectional at a new furniture auction that comes to town every so often. It is awesome!
So on to today's food:
B: 2 WW toast with Cheez Whiz (2)
L: Mushroom and brie soup (2) - (bought this gem at Costco. Had 1/2 c. and added some veg broth to stretch it out a bit. It is awesome but FULL of sodium of course!)
Melba toast and cheese (4)

S: Cheesecake (1)
D: Smart Ones lasagna thingy (6)
Salad (0)
FF chocolate milk (3)
Coffee crisp single (2) - (also from Costco...I finally found them!! SO worth the points!)
We did our long run today after work. Up to 8K...ouch for tomorrow! So I'm using 4 points later for a snack.

I'll take it!

Down 1.6lbs this morning! I saw a better number yesterday morning but I'm fine with that! I would have been OK with any loss actually! Last night went well. I had 14 points still when L came over. We had this yummy chickpea/feta recipe that L made on pita bread. I had 2 of them so that was 6pts. Then we also had 2 caesars (hello Mr. Sodium!!) = 6pts. Some veggies and dip (1) and a cravings cheesecake (1). So I stayed within points. Just probably went over on the sodium. But it all worked out!
Today's food (for my last 12 hr. DAY shift):
2 WW toast with Cheez Whiz (2)
8 Melba toast with leftover chickpea/feta mixture on top (4)
Mushroom cup of soup (1)
SF pudding (1)
Apple (1)
Snack : cottage cheese (2) and a cheesecake (1)

Potential...




So I peeked on the scale this afternoon when I got up. Wait a minute, let's be honest here - I weight myself EVERYDAY. But today, I was pleasantly surprised at the number. I have the *potential* to have a pretty good damn week.
BUT, the challenges???
1. I'm running my medium run today (4.8K) - ? water retention due to sore muscles.
2. My sister is coming over tonight for TV night (with little P of course!!!!) and I know there will be snacking involved.
3. Snacks usually involve sodium!!!
Solutions:
1. Water, water, water and MORE water!
2. Luckily I've slept until now, therefore, no points consumed yet.
3. Life goes on! I could choose not to have TV night or snacks but in the grand scheme of things, who am I kidding? Life happens and it's not the end of the world if I have a bit of water retention! (remind me of this statement tomorrow if I'm disappointed!!)

As for my last nightshift - it royally sucked! I was very busy with one patient and said patient was very sick which made me feel sick and I didn't eat a quarter of what I had planned to! There was an incident with chips and dip though so I think that made up for the points I had counted for the night!

Had a crappy sleep last night so I'll need to go and nap soon before nightshift rolls around :( I went to the Dr.'s this morning and got some bloodwork done. I'm interested to see the results as she is checking out my B12 and iron levels (due to the fact that I'm a veggie). It's so nice to have such a young, FEMALE, easy to talk to Dr!! It's been a while.

Breakfast Day is here again!!!

So, I confused J yesterday. He said he was bringing home McD's but might not make it there for the breakfast menu. I said that was OK and I just wanted a fruit and yogurt parfait. Turns out he did make it there for breakfast and thought I would want my regular breakfast and that it was only if he didn't make it there for the breakfast menu that I wanted the parfait. Does that make sense?
So there I was this AM, faced with a hashbrown and McGriddle. I took off the sausage and the cheese, which made it 7 points (McDonald's has a surprisingly great nutritional info site where you can take stuff off the sandwich and recalculate). And of course, I ate the hashbrown too...for 3 pts. I haven't really been hungry since.
Planning to have some cucumber and vinegar later. Then possibly a veggie burger (5) and spicy green bean stirfry (1) for dinner.
Activity today = short run (3.2K). Hopefully my cold will allow me to breathe while running!
And that's it for today. I think I'll go paint my toenails now.
Doctor's appt. tomorrow and my (for real!) LAST nightshift!!!!

Help me, Dr. McDreamy!


So I'm having a bit of a sick day today. Sore throat, stuffy nose, nausea so bad that I couldn't stand long enough to do my hair! Went to work and came home an hour later and slept. But then had to go back to work for a stupid meeting. Overall, quite the sucky day so far. Looking at McDreamy makes me feel a BIT better though :)
On top of all this, I can hardly move due to muscle soreness from baseball and running! Am I getting old or what???
Food wise:
Just managed to get down 2 WW toast with SF jam (2)
We'll see how things go. I'm hoping to eat more later!
***Update: Managed to get in a cup of soup (1), 1c. grapes (1), treat size coffee crisp (2). Then J came home and I got a Wendy's frescata sandwich (removed the turkey) for 10 pts and mandarin oranges (1). It's weird what you feel like when you're sick! The soup didn't sit so well and I just felt like a sandwich (but didn't want to make it, of course!) So that's 17 pts. We'll see what else I feel like later! Nausea is better, thankfully!***
And NO exercise today!!!!!

MIA blogger!

Sorry I've been out of the loop this weekend! It's been busy! I've done OK with my points and exercise though. However, I've used all of my 35 weekly points already! Between some drinks and eating out twice, there wasn't much I could do. Well, actually I could have NOT drank, but that's just silly :)
On the exercise front, I played 3 baseball games on Saturday and then just got back from our long run - 7.2K this week. So, needless to say, I'm HURTIN'!!!
I'm thinking that part of my problem last week was not eating enough. I didn't end up using all of my weekly points and I didn't really use too many activity points. I think when I'm running 15-20K per week that I have to make sure to eat some of those extra points so my body doesn't think I'm starving it. Just a theory...we'll see how it works! And it shouldn't be a problem this week anyway as I've already used those 35 points :)
Anyway, that's what's been going through my head this weekend!
Food today:
1 piece WW bread + peanut butter (2)
300mL Gatorade (2)
Veggie wraps (3)

Maybe...

...running 3 days in a row, prior to weigh, makes me retain water? Maybe I ate too much salt for dinner last night? Maybe I didn't drink enough water? Maybe I shouldn't have weighed in early? No matter what excuse I may have, I am UP 0.8lb. As you may have guessed, I am VERY frustrated but what can I do? Nothing. I did everything this week, including keeping a very close watch on those sneaky, little 35 weekly points and what do I get? A GAIN!!! I know I have to keep going and stay OP but it's weeks like this that make you wonder. These 5 lbs have been so frustrating and I don't know what else I can do to get rid of them.
Anyway, depressing post over. I WILL keep working, I WILL track my food, I WILL keep blogging to keep me honest :)

Hmmmm, dilemma...

So I'm off Thursday and Friday. J goes away on Thursdays for his overnight for work. So I'm going to my sister's and staying overnight there. Problem - weigh in on Friday. I will be at my sister's without my scale. I think that I'm going to weigh in tomorrow morning instead and call it a week. The bonus to this plan? We can probably have a few drinks and a hot tub once my nephew goes to bed! Yay!
Today was a short run - 3.2K. Then I went and walked around at the fair!! It's at the new fairgrounds this year and just doesn't seem the same. Had to check it out though. Sister and nephew came with me. Then we had a good dinner and then J and I went and tried to play baseball as I'm being conned into a tournament on Saturday, I think. I really do suck though so maybe they'll change their minds!
Food today:
Pre run:1 Eggo with SF jam (1)
Post run: 2 eggs and toast (5)
Snack: WW cake (1)
Drink: A Caesar (3)
Dinner: Tacos made with veggie "meat" on WW tortillas (5) + Rice with salsa and black beans (4)
And somehow I have points leftover...I'm SO full right now though.
Will have some dessert later!
So, wish me luck for early weigh in tomorrow :)

Not much to report

It was a crap day at work and I have never been so glad to get outta there. I think I've just been working too many screwy shifts lately and I'm bitter. But anyway....
Food wise today was a lot the same as yesterday except after work I had a preztel and cheese thingy for 2 pts. and then went for a 6.4K run. Then for dinner, we had subway! 12 inch veggie sub for 10pts. So my points for the day are gone but I know I'll be having something else tonight. Probably tea and a WW cake and maybe something else. Will use a couple flex or maybe use half of my activity points. I have been using them when I do my long runs as I get extremely hungry.
Anyway, boring day but OP nonetheless.
Biggest Loser tonight...YAY for motivation!

I almost cried!

So last night after making 4 tortillas into chips, I divided them up into ziplock baggies but left them unzipped as I wanted to make sure they were cool before they were zipped. Makes sense, right? Well fast forward to this AM when I was in a hurry to pack my lunch and was randomly throwing things into my lunch bag, including the unzipped tortilla chips, all the while forgetting their unzipped status. So there I am at work, all excited about my hummus and chips at lunch time and I pull the bag out and HALF of my chips fall to the floor. Wouldn't be so bad if I was at home or if I worked ANYWHERE other than a hospital :( It was so very sad!!! Half of my beloved chips scattered on the hospital floor! Boo hoo!
Anyway, other than that tragedy, a not so bad day.
Food today:
25 Vanilla Miniwheats (3) + 1/2c skim milk (1)
Tomato sandwich on WW bread (1)
Hummus and chips (2)
Sugar free Jello chocolate pudding (1)
Strawberry cottage cheese (1)(only ate half as cottage cheese with fruit is not for me!)
Veggie sausage on WW wrap (4)
3/4c. peas (1)
1/2c. Lipton noodles (3)
Hot chocolate (1)
WW cake (1)
Hummus and chips (2) (this time I had ALL 8 chips!)

Activity: 4.8K run (then a bubble bath!)

I was so excited about my snack, I didn't give it a title!


So here is my snack tonight in various stages of "done-ness". I've been looking at hummus recipes for a while and finally had the motivation to try it tonight. It turned out awesome!! I also cut up some WW tortillas and sprayed them with Pam spray + garlic powder + coarse sea salt and baked them in the oven and now I have chips!! Each tortilla made 8 chips so that is just 1 pt. Then I had PC "V8" juice for 0pts and I'm full! Oh, by the way, the hummus worked out to 1/4c. for 1 pt. So it was a nice little 2 pt. snack!. I think there will be more hummus and chips being made in the near future :)

The more I think about it...

...the more I think that I may have underestimated how many flex points I used on Friday night. I *may* have had more drinks than I originally thought :) I think I will up the flex points used to 18 to be safe. It couldn't be more than that but I at least feel better overestimating rather than the other way around. Afterall, I am supposed to be tracking those darn flex points better!
So I slept until 2pm today which wasn't so good as I have to switch back to day mode for tomorrow! I should never have been so nice and switched this stupid shift as nobody ever returns the favour :(
Food today has been:
2 eggs over easy (4pts) with WW toast and becel spray (1)
100 cal chocolate fudge brownie ice cream (2)

We'll see what the rest of the day brings...

Friday Night Off = Fall off the Wagon!

Well, where to start. After a good loss this week, and getting up after night shift and going for a run...I decided that J and I should go out to dinner. And in this town, there really aren't many options. So off to East Side Mario's we went. I didn't do horribly. I got the veggie individual pizza with veggie soup and it comes with a little mousse cake for dessert. I ate half the pizza (6pts?), soup (2pts - which I looked up before we left. Apparently garden salad - my fav there, is 4 pts - full fat dressing = bad!) and I shared my dessert with J. OH YEAH, I also had 2 big draft beers. But only because there was a contest on and I could win a trip out east...that's what I'm telling myself anyway! Then to top the night off, we went "shopping" at the liquor store and went home and had some drinks. Then my brother stopped in, so we had more drinks!!!
All in all, not too bad as the only thing I had eaten so far that day was a smoothie before my run. So I've also counted 12 flex points (in addition to all my daily points!) and I think I'm in the clear. My goal this week is to try and keep track of my flex. Usually, it's just a free for all on the weekend and then come Monday, I just tell myself that all my flex are gone and I have to be good for the week. In reality, on most weekends, I probably use more than 35 flex pts. so it should be interesting to keep a better eye on them.
So that was my Friday night. I've been good today so far and have packed my food for tonight's night shift, so there's not much chance of going off track tonight.

Such hard work this week....

....and it was worth it!! I lost 1.2 pounds this week. It's the first time in months that it's been more than 0.8 up or down. I'm thrilled!!! And that's after 2 nightshifts as well!
Just drinking a protein shake now (1/2c skim milk -1pt, 1/2 c minute maid light- 0pt, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder - 1pt, 1/2 c berries- 0pt.) Yum. Then I'm off for a run.
Post run - maybe we'll go out for dinner tonight????

Looonnnng Night!


Well, it's almost over! It's 6:30am and I'm just waiting to go home and go to bed! Just wanted to say that I did it! I survived and stayed OP which is a first for me on nights. It wasn't much fun...I was pretty hungry at times during the day but I did it! Yay. Now I'm off to sleep so I can do another night when I get up! THEN, only 2 more nights in September before I start my day job in October. Wooohooo!!

Running and Dinner and Nightshift, Oh My!

My run last night went well. 6.4K. We started running just after 7pm and it was actually a little chilly. Was a bit nervous as we haven't run over 5K in a while! It was good though. It had stopped raining so we didnt's get wet. Felt great but we did go a bit slower than usual. But that's what training is for I guess!
Pre run dinner ended up being a veggie burger and bun + salad with light bocconcini cheese (if you haven't tried this stuff before I highly recommend it! - it's a mozzerella cheese that comes in little "balls". You can have 2 "balls" for 3 points or 1 and 1/2 for 2 pts.) So I had romaine + tomatoes + cheese + salad spritzer for 2 pts. Quite tasty. Then after the run I had some Eggos (3) and then some Ryvita pizzas (3) while watching Biggest Loser. Oh yeah, Biggest Loser...I love the blue team. Especially the old guy that lost 31 lbs...too cute! And of course, BOB!
Ok, now on to the one thing I've been confused about since I started following WW. Nightshift. I never know how to manage my points on my first night. I'm usually up for most of the day before I go in, therefore I'm eating points...then I'm up all night too and WANT to be eating MORE points! So I'm usually over points that day. Do I use flex? Do I use the next days daily points once it hits midnight? My usual: just ignore as I'm up for 21 hours so I MUST burn more calories and it all equals out...stupid, I know but as I've said, I never know how to handle it. What do you think??? I'm thinking I'll try and eat light today so I have some points left for tonight. We'll see how that goes!
So today's yumminess:
Breakfast: Egg beaters (1) and WW toast (1)

Lunch: Zero point soup and salad with feta (1) + grapes (1)
Oops! Change in plans for lunch. J brought Pizza Nova home - Veggie slice (I ate half, I'm counting it as 4 points based on their website nutritional info) Still had some zero point soup for filler! No salad or grapes though!
Lunch = 4!
Snack: WW cake (1) + tea

Dinner: Pita pizza (4) + something!

Nightshift: mostly snacky stuff. Will fill you in later!

McDonald's for Breakfast...COULD have been BAD!


So on Tuesday mornings, J (my BF) works in town and brings home breakfast from his favourite place (yes, McD's!). If I'm not working, he brings me some too. My usual order: VERY bad...a sausage McGriddle (but I do take off the sausage) combo. So last night, J asked if he could bring home breakfast. Off I went to research and my usual breakfast is...wait for it...15 points!! And that's without the sausage on it! WOW, I've never looked it up before. Glad that I did because that's the end of that. This morning I got a McDonald's breakfast for 6 points. I had a hashbrown (3) and a fruit and yogurt parfait (3) and it was GOOD!

So today consists of a lovely day of cleaning, then hopefully a visit with my nephew...his mommy is signing him up for mom's and tots swimming lessons here in town and is going to drop by. And then I'm going for my long run for the week this evening. 6.4K. So that's the excitement!

My food today:


McDonald's breakfast (6)


Lunch: Zero point soup, grilled cheese (2), tapioca and strawberries (2)


Snack: Cucumber and vinegar, grapes (1)


Dinner: ???


Snack: probably something substantial post-run. I'm usually starving and will use half of the AP's I earn plus whatever daily points I have leftover.

Super Veggie Dinner!


So here's my dinner in progress....and then the final product! It was super yummy!! Grilled portabello mushrooms, grilled veggies topped with light feta cheese, and a baked potato with ff sour cream and salsa! SO good and low points! 7 points total...most of it for the potato and feta cheese. For dessert : Tapioca pudding (2) with 2 sliced strawberries on top.

THEN, I made some zero point soup to have for the week. I'm in the groove and planning to stay there!

Hey everyone! I've been super inspired by some bloggers out there and decided that I would try it myself and see if it would help me stay on track to get over my last hurdle.
You see, I've been following the WW plan @ home since March/06. I lost 25 pounds but CANNOT get rid of "the last 5 pounds" to get to my goal. I've been hovering at the same weight since January and have decided that I need a kick in the butt. I just need to get my head in the game and get'r done!
So here goes nothin'!
My food today is looking something like this:
AM: Wheat and Blueberry Eggos with SF syrup (3)

AM snack: 1c grapes, maybe some watermelon (2)

Noon: Egg beaters, WW bagel, Tomato + Salad + 100 Cal pk of Cheetos (6)

Snack: Cucumber sliced up with vinegar (0)

Dinner: Not set in stone yet. I'm thinking Grilled Portabello marinated in balsamic vinegar, olive oil and garlic + baked potato + grilled veggies/salad. (7?)

So yeah, that dinner sounds good...maybe it IS set in stone. Will just have to get to the grocery store for some supplies! Then I'll have 4 points left for a PM snack.
